Pantry Reloaded

9/28/2012

How quickly the kitchen pantry gets crazy looking!  I had duplicates, and in some cases, triplicates of items.  Time for a pantry do-over.

BEFORE (left):
It's not the worst pantry I've seen...and not the best.

Problems:
1.  Bottom shelf needed to be clear of items due to toddler reach

2.  Couldn't easily see what was already in pantry, so overbuying

3.  Small items and bulk items getting lost and forgotten

AFTER:
I can easily find everything I need.

Top shelf has appliances well out of toddlers reach, and re-assembled.

An unused desk organizer corrals beans, rices, and sauces packets.

We found three different opened boxes of pasta.  We portioned the pasta in portions perfect for three servings, and then put ziploc bags in a canister.

Cupcake / muffin tin liners were combined in a tall plastic container with a lid to keep dust out.

Small items like yeast packets, food coloring, and birthday candles were given their own small containers.

Two notebooks store recipes in three-ring binders.  Recipes and magazines waiting to be sorted and put into sheet protectors are stored (far left) in a magazine holder.

Family snacks relocated from pantry to counter, corralled and grouped for easy out-the-door grabbing.

This 3-tier cabinet organizer makes it easier to see what canned goods have at a glance.

Bottom shelf and floor all toddler-safe items.
