I used the free Izzy top / dress pattern by Climbing the Willow (link HERE.) As you know, I'm sewing clothes this week as part of Kids Clothes Week. All of the clothes in this KCW series are based on Zoe's favorite books. See more from the "Zoe's Library" collection HERE. This dress is based on the book,The Magic Flute, adapted and illustrated by Emanuele Luzzati. Here is the reluctant model. I had to bribe her this morning to get some photos by letting her put tape on the kitchen drawer handles. The pattern features a sweet little button closure. I was able to save the lovely buttons from the blouse for a perfect match. I'm really pleased with this dress, and Zoe seems to be also. It's long enough for her this time (see previous mishaps here and here.) And I can't leave it alone, I gots to have me some accessories. I made this little yellow pin to match the yellow in the dress of the Queen of the Night in the book. I used a wool sweater I had felted previously, and glue gunned it to a pin back. There's lots of great flower tutorials on my Pinterest board, or leave me a comment below if you want to know how I did it. And a flute toy -- or singing straws, as I call them. I got this idea from Handmade Charlotte -- you can find the DIY tutorial for this and other homemade instruments HERE. #kidsclothesweek

I love this dress. I am going to try for Des (10) and I, to do something similar based on a book she just finished. Any suggestions for making a larger size? She is a size 12 (and growing).
